Salem, OR — October 19, 2016. A new partnership reshapes the future of Salem-based ciderworks. David Ryan, owner of Hood River Juice Company, acquires stake in the operation. Ryan joins James Kohn as co-owner and operational manager.
"This partnership brings together deep industry experience with established craft production," says James Kohn, co-owner. "David has supported our work and the broader cider movement for seven years. His resources and expertise will help us refine quality and push both Wandering Aengus and Cider House brands into new territory."
"I see this as harvest made real," says David Ryan. "We're connecting the ciderworks directly to American growers. That vertical integration strengthens everyone's position."
The ciderworks launched in 2005 and now distributes across 15 states. The operation produces two distinct lines: heirloom apple vintages from rare local varieties, and regionally grown eating apples finished with fruit and hops. Both brands have earned respect in craft beverage circles.
David Ryan leads Hood River Juice Company in Hood River, Oregon. The company ranks among the Northwest's largest fresh apple juice suppliers and produces Ryan's brand ciders. The operation employs up to 175 people. Ryan maintains hands-on involvement in sourcing top fruit from small and large growers nationwide, pressing artisan juice, and delivering to major wholesalers and retailers.
